Today I was on Fox Morning News Extra to give viewers information on this weekend’s Rodeo Run 10k in Houston.
-Don’t wear new shoes. I didn’t get a chance to talk about the shoe I was holding…but shoes are really important. It’s too late to go buy new shoes for this weekend, but if you have knee problems or shin splints about after the race it’s most likely because you are wearing the wrong shoes. Go to Luke’s Locker and get fitted for the right kind for your foot type.
-Stay hydrated the few days before and leading up to the race. But, don’t go crazy Read the rest of this entry »
If you are like me and love the Olympics…I’m sure you have been pretty sleep deprived staying up late every night to see who wins the gold. My favorites this time have been the alpine skiing and snow boarding and I love to watch Gretchen Bleiler, Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso.
Have you been wondering what the athletes are listing to on their ipods just before they go bolting down the hill at 90 miles an hour? Well, I did!! I found out that Shaun White was blaring Guns “N Roses and Johnny Weir likes Lady Gaga! Checkout this article HERE from Rolling Stone to get more athletes’ playlists.
It’s pretty cool to get an inside glimpse of some of the workouts that these athletes do. Each sport is so unique and requires a different set of skills and specially trained muscles. Gretchen Bleiler is a snowboarder, so it’s important for her to work on core, balance and agility while keeping up her speed. Checkout her sample workout below (click for video):
I bought Alicia Silverstone’s book The Kind Diet a few weeks ago after a friend recommended it. I always thought Alicia was a vegetarian (not eating any meat) but she’s actually vegan (doesn’t eat any animal products including eggs or dairy) so I was interested in how she makes her diet tasty and healthy. Plus, I’m always interested in new diet trends…especially organic and natural ones. Also, I’m a borderline vegetarian and I only eat fish about once or twice a week. Most of my family and friends don’t even realize this because I don’t make a big deal about it and I still go out to eat and to dinner parties but just get veggie options. I started eating this way about 2 years ago and it’s become super easy! Read the rest of this entry »
I started using Lush a few years ago after I found them on a trip to Atlanta. Now we finally have them in Houston at the Macy’s store in the Galleria! I love this brand because all of their products are natural and their fragrances come from plants and flowers. One of my favorites are these “bubble bars”. They come in all colors and flavors but I love the lavender one that has a tiny bit of sparkle in it. But beware…a small piece of one goes a long way!
I’ve been using this product for about a year and it really helps my workout clothes stay looking new and fresh. Most of my workout pants and jackets are black and I was worried about them fading since I wash them so much. This detergent is specifically for dark clothes and it really works. Most of my pants have kept their deep dark color and don’t look dingy or worn out. I also use it on dark jeans to keep them looking new.
I found this recipe in Martha Stewart Living and have made it 3 times! I used small fingerling potatoes..but any kind would work (I think sweet potato would be great!).

I found this great recipe from Cooking Light and it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day! Yes…souffles are kinda hard to make but they are lighter than they look, thanks to the eggwhites. Most restaurant versions are more like cake and are heavier with more calories. TIP: make sure when you are beating the eggwhites…you get the stiff peaks or your souffle will fall flat. To make 4, just double the recipe.
