How To Workout Like A Celebrity

I recently filmed a short workout video with my client Erica Rose titled “How to Workout Like a Celebrity”! You may know Erica from TV’s The Bachelor a few years ago and most recently from VH1′s You’re Cut Off. She has been a blast to work with at Fit and she’s really a hard worker when it comes to her workouts. BUT, sometimes she’s distracted by calls and texts from friends, costars and her agent. I came up with the idea for the video after one day we were doing the side crunches and I really did look back and she was texting behind me the whole time! But, don’t let the video fool you…she is strong…read the inserted slides for her actual workouts.

**Stay tuned for more information about workouts with Erica including announcements about our NEW DVD!

Here is my sample jumprope circuit workout. I do this workout all the time up at Fit and either use free weights, bands or exercises with my body weight (ie squats, pushups, etc). It just takes a little practice and before you know it…you will be a jumprope pro!

My video is featured on ExerciseTV’s Youtube channel!

As of this week, I’m on the Video on Demand channel in 38 million households! YAY! If you have Comcast, Time Warner, AT&T or any of the other major providors you should be able to access it. Here’s how:

-Go to “Free on Demand”

-Look for either Health/Fitness or similar category

-Look for ExerciseTV

-Then scroll to the “Most Popular” category and my video is titled “Long Lean Legs- Advanced”

We all wish we had Gwen Stefani’s abs or Fergie’s legs, right? But, the truth is they really have to work at staying in shape. Gwen has said that it’s her love of fashion that keeps her in shape. She wants to be able to look great in the clothes she designs and be able to wear whatever she wants. Fergie admits that she really has to watch what she eats or she will pack on the pounds. You can see what she eats in a typical day HERE.

Here are a few tips to get you started on your way to that six-pack and sculpted legs. By the way…if you really want to sculpt lean legs, be sure to pre-order my DVD : )

Today I was on Fox Morning News Extra to give viewers information on this weekend’s Rodeo Run 10k in Houston.

Here are more of my top tips:

-Don’t wear new shoes. I didn’t get a chance to talk about the shoe I was holding…but shoes are really important. It’s too late to go buy new shoes for this weekend, but if you have knee problems or shin splints about after the race it’s most likely because you are wearing the wrong shoes. Go to Luke’s Locker and get fitted for the right kind for your foot type.

-Stay hydrated the few days before and leading up to the race. But, don’t go crazy Continue Reading…

Cari Shoemate Bootcamp Workout for Sibila Challenge

HOUSTON – Fitness trainer Cari Shoemate presents an example of a bootcamp-style workout to accelerate exercise plans for people taking part in the Sibila Challenge.

Instructions:

– Warmup for between 2 and 3 minutes with a walk, jog or jumping jacks

– Do 20 squats with a shoulder press or squat jumps for an advanced movement

– Do 10 pushups and 10 sets of mountain climbers

– Do 10 reverse lunges with a knee-up (for the abdominals) on each leg

– Do 10 tricep dips on the floor

– Do 5 Superman abs with “Superman” for the back and abdominal crunches

– Repeat the above five steps two times for 20 total minutes total

If there is time left over from the workout, Shoemate recommends jumping rope or doing jumping jacks for an added calorie burn.

Shoemate recommends this workout two or three times a week and on the alternate days doing a 20-minute run or walk/run for maximum results.

While I was NYC last week, I thought the viewers of Fox Morning News Extra would like to see how New York posts the calories of foods/drinks everywhere..even Starbucks! We need that in Houston!!!

Confused about what to eat when you are starting a new workout program? On Fox Morning News Extra I showed viewers why 100 calorie packs are not good! Also, I didn’t get to talk about the plate of powdered donuts…but they are NOT one of my healthy items! I was trying to show that the Yoplait yogurt I brought had 27 grams of sugar and that was the same as 7 powdered donuts!! YIKES

*Also, not all “healthy” frozen meals are healthy. Most have a ton of sodium, preservatives and “fake” ingredients that may make your mouth happy but your body (including those thighs) are screaming: “What the heck is this crap?”!!

Pigeon is one of my favorite poses….especially after a long run because it’s such a great stretch. But, be careful not to push yourself too hard in this position especially if you have any knee injuries.

TIP: Do not do this move at the beginning of your workout or yoga sequence. Warmup first or do it towards the end of the yoga class so that your muscles will be more limber and you don’t hurt yourself.

I was on Fox Morning News yesterday to demonstrate a few simple training moves that anyone can do. Triathlons, marathons and 5ks are becoming more and more popular and each year more people make it their goal to compete. According to the NY Times, there has been a 20% increase in the participation of marathons over the last decade! But, training property is just as important as the will and motivation to compete, especially if you are starting from scratch. Yesterday I showed viewers a few simple moves they can do at home with bands, which are great for training. Checkout my clip below:
